Abstract Submission

The online abstract submission is now closed.

The Scientific Committee invites you to participate actively in this congress which will be an extraordinary occasion for the exchange of thoughts and experiences. We look forward to receiving abstracts for consideration and inclusion in the program as oral or poster presentations.


The abstract submission is only possible on-line. Abstracts submitted by fax or mail will not be accepted.
Please follow very carefully the instructions before submitting the abstract. Abstracts will be on line for review by the author until the submission deadline. The online abstract submission is now closed.

Registration to the Congress is compulsory to be able to present the abstract and must be completed by March 31, 2017. One author cannot submit more than 1 abstract but can be co-author in other abstracts.


The abstract, not exceeding 2500 characters including spaces and punctuation, must be written in English and structured in the following five specified subtitles: Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion(s) and References.


Please submit your abstract within one of the following topics:

  1. Surgery and wound healing
  2. Structural and Functional testing
  3. Medical treatment and Non-Incisional Surgery
  4. Epidemiology, quality of life and health economics
  5. Laboratory sciences
  6. IOP physiology and pathophysiology
  7. Genetics, genomics and biomarkers
  8. Other

Acceptance Notification

All abstracts received by the indicated deadline will be evaluated by the Program Committee.
Acceptance, together with technical details for presentation (oral or poster), will be notified only to the submitting author by Mid-March, 2017.

Poster Walks

New this year are the WGC-2017 Poster Walks. The posters that are accepted will be divided into sessions and displayed in a large area at the congress center. A poster walk moderator walks with interested delegates
along the poster panels within their poster session topic. Per poster, the author has a 1-minute presentation and 2 minutes for discussion.

Rapid Fire Sessions

The abstracts that are reviewed with the highest score, will be presented during one of the Rapid Fire Sessions.

Travel Grants

The WGA offers grants to ophthalmologists and residents under forty years of age from economically underprivileged countries. An accepted abstract is required and besides this a letter should explain the special interest in glaucoma and how participation would benefit the professional goals of the applicant. Also a CV should be included.
