Meeting Calendar
24 hours for Glaucoma
Organized by the Brazilian Ophthalmological Society together with the Bazilian Glaucoma Society
24 Hours for Glaucoma – The Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology and the Brazilian Glaucoma Society organize a Glaucoma Awareness Campaign. Educational activities, patients orientation, and live debates/interviews to advocate for further improvements in glaucoma care.
It is estimated that 1 to 2% of the world population lives with glaucoma. And the projections are not very encouraging: 111.8 million people may suffer from the disease in 2040. In view of this scenario, it is urgent that measures are taken to expand knowledge about glaucoma among the population, which promote early diagnosis, especially among the groups at risk, and that guarantee access to appropriate treatment in order to avoid complications, since the disease is the main cause of irreversible blindness worldwide.
This is the goal of 24 hours for Glaucoma, a major mobilization around the disease, carried out completely online, together with the Brazilian Glaucoma Society, and with the support of several companies. There will be lectures, interviews, classes, special participation, and tele-orientation with specialists.
