OCT in glaucoma: a look into the future
Optical coherence tomography will continue to play an important role in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with glaucoma. Advances include imaging both the optic nerve and the macula at the same time, improved correlation with visual field testing, functional information about the microvasculature of the optic nerve and macula, and customized normative database for different patient subgroups. OCT imaging will enable clinicians to practice personalized medicine for glaucoma monitoring.
